Travel Theme Photo Challenge: Feet

Thought it would be fun to enter a photo challenge. I haven’t done it in a while and would like to join in again. Hope you have just as much fun as I.

This week’s photo challenge from Where’s My Backpack is “Feet.

I tend to always put things in light of scripture. That’s just where my heart and head tend to be. In thinking about feet, I’m reminded of all the places I’ve been. Our feet mark our territory that we’ve gone over, are in or are going to cover. When we put ourselves in the right frame of mind and strategically move forward, we have success. Move forward in what you know is right and good. Enjoy the benefits of the fruit it produces. Rejoice in the areas that may have been difficult to walk through, but you made it through regardless.

Our feet are an important part of our being. In the last season of my life, my feet were very important.

Over the past two years I had set some running goals and found photos to reflect.

Fun memories!

Here are the photos I’d like to share to meet the challenge:

In the last two years, my goal was to complete official runs. Seeing that I am not a “runner” this was an exciting time!!

After the runs…

Nothing like goals where you’re feet will take you.

Psalm 18:33, “Watch the path of your feet and all our ways will be established.”

Feet! What a fun challenge. I’m glad I took it on. If you are interested in weekly travel themes join in over at Where’s my backpack.

Weekly Photo Challenge: “Silhouette”

This week’s Photo Challenge is SILHOUETTE. “The proper definition of a silhouette is ‘the outline of a body viewed as circumscribing a mass.’ In photography, often we achieve that effect by putting light behind the object whose silhouette we want to capture, effectively darkening out the features of the subject instead of highlighting them.”

I wish I could say I took these shots in silhouette on purpose, but… don’t think I did, but fit the theme of the challenge. Isn’t that great how that turns out to happen.

This first photo was from my backyard. I enjoy taking shots and documenting all the growth, changes and simple beauty. The sun shining through the fronds of the palm leaves, reminds me of the “new hope” we have present with the brightness (whether internal or external) of each new day.

It makes me smile just see this! I hope it does you too 🙂

Inside the house a beautiful array of dancing flowers: tulips. I enjoyed learning the fact that they “dance in the vase.” It is said that tulips continue to grow even after being cut. They are in constant search for the source of light so they move, stretch, bob and grow. Their blossoms open in the day and close at night.

They constantly asking the question, “Shall we Dance?”

One of my many favorite places to steal away for quiet moments are the Lagoons at Ko’Olina on Oahu. What beautiful sunsets can be captured there. Day, evening or night, that’s such a nice place to be.

So there you have it, silhouettes…I just realized mine just happened to all be from nature. Guess, that’s just where my heart is. Hope you enjoy the look see. I had fun finding the photos in my collection.

Meet each new day with a heart wide open for new possibilities!!

Blessings of Great Peace, Kulia…

Weekly Photo Challenge: “Happy”

Well, here it is. Another opportunity to think, create, and post. So here is my Second Photo Challenge: What makes me Happy? That’s a loaded question, but what fun I had coming up what to share with you.

There are many things that make me happy and causes me to smile inwardly as well as outwardly. Here are just a few:

LAVENDER: smelling, growing and visiting lavender farms; TURTLES: spotting turtles at the beach; HULA: learning, watching and participating; WILD BLACKBERRIES: picking wild blackberries and eating the harvest; GARDENING: growing and sharing plants, flowers and vegetables.

These are just a few things that I enjoy that make me happy. I have fond memories in each of the categories listed and displayed below. I also have just as many more categories or things that I could share which in itself makes me happy too!

Just thinking about what makes me happy, makes me happy!!

Life is full of many things some good and some not so good. It is not just one or the other. It is a mixture of both. When I take the time to reflect, I can always find something that makes me smile. Even on a “rainy” day…cuz rain helps vegetation to grow. Even on a cloudy day…cuz outta the clouds sometimes you’ll find the most beautiful rainbow.

If you’re in the right spot and have the right perspective, that rainbow can even be double. In the oddest places…Yes, quite amazing.

During a tough time in your life, you may be introduced to support and encouragement that you never thought you had. Bright spots coming through the cracks and crevices.

Yet, some things are just plain obvious and outright joyful. Everyone has common joys and experiences of happiness. But there are those that are specific to just you. Those are very precious, priceless and nothing could compare.

Whether surface happy or inner happy, it’s all a blessing. I chose to share some of my surface happy. I don’t know if I could put into photo or words my inner happy. It is good to rehearse both. This challenge was fun and one we should all practice often: happy.

Happy, Happy 🙂

Blessings, Kulia…

That Peaceful Place…

We each have one. That place where we like to go and escape from the busyness of our routine, the busyness of our minds.

What does your place look like?

I have several. Some you can’t even physically get to. Due to the demands of the day, there is a place in my “mind” that I allow to give me a peaceful moment when I can’t get away. A one minute holiday! Works wonders to get yourself back on track, motivated, refreshed and revived. Sometimes we don’t even realize our condition. We just go through treating most things mundane and mediocre. Or we get so bogged down, that the weight of things begin to be too much.

It’s great to have that peaceful place you can go. For some it may only come once a year in the form of a vacation. Others may have a hobby or sport they can routinely participate in. Still others, like me have many “outlets” to provide my escape. Life is full of wonderful places, adventures and enjoyments. We just have to take advantage of them.

So step out and do the things that you enjoy. Take time to smile, laugh, or do something you haven’t done in ages. Go out and seek a place that you’ve never been before. Often times you don’t have to go very far. You’ll be surprised of all that is out there waiting to be discovered. You’ll be more surprised at what lies inside you waiting to be released.

Take a moment, a minute holiday. Take a few hours, a day, a week, a weekend and find that place that will offer you peace and enjoyment. Enjoy yourself. Enjoy you. If anyone else happens to come along…the more the merrier.

Enjoy Life in the midst of life.
